Accessibility statement

What was tested, with what result, and what is not accessible today. One page, five sections, no accordions.

Scope and standard

This statement covers the public website webichive.eu and the panel of the Webichive software, in both languages and both themes.

The standard is WCAG 2.2 level AA. In this project a violation of it is a bug rather than a matter of taste: it blocks the release.

2

State of conformance

The automated test run of the last release reported no violations. It covers every screen of the panel and every page of the website, each in German and in English and in the light theme as well as the dark one.

That run does not cover everything the standard asks for. Focus order, meaningful sequence and the wording of error messages are checked by hand, and those checks are not yet part of it. This statement therefore does not say "fully conformant"; section 4 says what is open.

How it was tested

Testing runs axe-core in the browser against the A and AA rules of WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2. Tests of our own cover what axe-core cannot see: that every operable element can be reached with the keyboard alone, that the focus indicator carries at least 3:1 against its surroundings, that no animation runs when reduced motion is asked for, that every screen reflows at 320 CSS pixels without the page scrolling sideways, that every target is at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, and that every page declares its language.

The run happens on every change. It is therefore not a snapshot of one day but a condition of every release.

4

Known limitations

Archived third party content cannot be made accessible by Webichive. Replay shows the other site as it was captured, which is the point of an archive; its accessibility is that of the original page.

The picture of a captured page is a picture. It carries a text alternative naming the address and the time of capture, but the content shown in it cannot be read from the image. The extracted text of the same capture is in the Text tab and is machine readable.

Wide data tables and the replay frame scroll inside their own region rather than with the whole page. That region can be reached with the keyboard.

Focus order, meaningful sequence and the wording of error messages have not yet been checked by hand systematically. There is no report from an external audit with screen readers.

The documents this product generates (evidence reports, certificates of deletion, handbooks) have not yet been checked against PDF/UA.
